Tour de Helsinki

To celebrate the great stage win by Jussi Veikkanen in Deutschland Tour, our three-man Snigel Speed team went for a good first performance in the 140 km Tour de Helsinki on Sunday.

The event had close to 1000 participants, and was very well organized. The first 11 km went slowly behind the event car, but from that on it was free competition.

Me, Tero and Mika-Jussi rode with a group obviously aiming for an average around 30 km/h. Since the start behind the car had been slow, the group actually rode around 34 km/h. All went very well until the last 30 km, when the group split up with some speeding for a better time and some getting tired. I was somewhere in between, ending up with a finishing time of 4:37 (an hour behind the winner) and an average of close to 31 km/h.

Next year I will try for a much better time. With a little bit of preparation, and riding in the right group, I think we all would have possibilities for around 4:15. So, hoping for a good year 2009.

  1. Grattis! Grymt alltså att cykla tävlingslopp!
Min motion nu består av att jag knatar runt i svampskogen. Det är ett fantastiskt svampår i år!
