Leaving Bastia for Genoa

My time here in Corsica went fast, and I was quite charmed by the island. As always, the richest experiences were to be found outside the normal tourist paths.

My best memories of the Ile de Beaute came from the three hikes I did to the mountain villages around Bastia. Ville de Pietrabugno, San Martino di Lota and Cardo are great hiking destinations from Bastia, I was surprised and happy to be the only tourist there.

Bastia is also beautiful with ‘real’ Corsican life outside of the touristy harbour.

Next time I’ll come equipped for real hiking in the mountains. Corsica isn’t a cycling destination, but a hiker’s paradise.

  1. Hi Martin,

I’ve been collecting Corsican hiking trails on my website and if you could share more details about your trip, it would be great.

    Thanks,

    Marek
