Korkeasaari is a zoo island close to the Helsinki city centre. The zoo has been there for over a hundred years, and the long history makes it interesting also from other points of view than the animals.
Last Saturday me, Ellie and my father went for a visit despite the rainy weather. It was a good choice of day, because the weather kept away the big crowds that usually fill the zoo on weekends. Here are some of the pictures I took.

A cayman ready for a meal

The wooden lookout-tower with a fine view over Helsinki

A green snake you wouldn't like to meet in the wild

Scarlet Ibis

Red Panda

Bored Lynx

Snow goat

This would be the opportunity, if you ever wished to kick some bear butt.

Dry bear wants to tease bear in water...

...but doesn't get away unpunished!

Seals do backstroke too

Ellie tries some skunk odor
